CAREER HISTORY

2001 – Present. I currently hold the position of Assistant Manager at a top five star hotel in Glasgow, having worked my way up from Restaurant Supervisor and Duty Manager. I am responsible for the smooth and successful running of the hotel with a strong emphasis towards the food and beverage department. My current responsibilities include:

  • Deputising for the General manager in his absence
  • Managing the hotel food and beverage department
  • Directing and organising staff members
  • Training and development of new and existing staff
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure standards are maintained
  • Ordering of all crockery, cutlery and glassware, wine, beer and spirits
  • Monitoring stock levels
  • Customer complaint handling
  • Organising all staff social events.

2000-2000 The Harborview Hotel, Martha’s Vineyard , USA . 6 month University Work Placement. Throughout this work experience I worked within the hotel’s Food and Beverage Department working in all areas from pool bar to restaurant and banqueting. Throughout this experience I:

  • Developed an understanding of cultural differences in hotel operations between the UK and USA
  • Completed specialised training in customer care through Total Quality Management training
  • Trained new staff members in operation systems and service techniques
  • Obtained a new qualification related to the sale and consumption of alcohol in the USA
  • Was introduced to a point of sale system called MICROS.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Have held a clean driving license since 1998
  • Hold the foundation WSET Introduction to Wine certificate and Intermediate.
  • First aid trained.
  • Health & Safety aware.
  • Reached the final of the Whitbread Young Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2000.
